Through our Path to Progression blog series, we’re sharing colleague stories about how they’ve developed, changed and grown their career within NCC Group.
For the third in our series, our Talent Attraction team spoke to Simon Casey to hear more about his journey so far and how he made the move from a Verification Consultant to becoming a Senior Solutions Architect.
What was your first role with NCC Group?
My first role was way back in 2011 as a Verification Consultant in the Software Resilience area of our business. It was here that I first gained exposure to many development languages, technical architectures and was able to observe, listen carefully and learn from others around me. Back then I would never have guessed the unbelievable things to come –including eight years of travelling to some of the best places in the world!
What is your current role?
My current role is a Senior Solution Architect which I started in 2021. I am a technical specialist across a broad range of our Software Escrow services advising customers and technology partners alike, with a core focus on our Escrow-as-a-Service (EaaS) cloud offerings.
What was your process of applying for an internal role?
When I first found out about the role vacancy, I decided to approach a colleague who was already in the role to discuss further and find out everything I needed to know. I started researching into the skills needed and the fundamentals of the product portfolio and foundational architectures.
I realised I had many transferable skills from my previous role from both a technical and interpersonal perspective so I decided to make a formal application and to my delight I was subsequently offered an interview. The interview was a surprisingly straight forward process. Then I received the offer!
Where do you see yourself in the future at NCC Group?
I believe there is further growth for myself here as my particular area continues to broaden year on year. I see myself continuing with the further success of the Software Resilience cloud offerings and future product developments.
To anyone thinking of applying for an internal role, there is some fantastic support on offer from colleagues across the business just don’t be afraid to ask!
Thank you for taking the time to read Simon’s story. We are really excited to see what he will do next with us!
